 The number of people who don't like pakh-pakhali is very small. Because they are beautiful, very innocent and diverse. Because of these reasons, the market for pet birds is quite wide and demanding. Dove is one of the caged birds. Its demand is also wide as it can be kept easily and in a small space. So pigeon breeding is very profitable for hobby as well as self-employment.

According to the Wildlife Conservation Department, there are 36 species of pigeons in the world. Among them, only 6 species are found in Bangladesh. These birds are more common in Africa, Europe, Indian subcontinent. These pigeons usually live for 10 to 14 years. Many cases can live up to 21 years. But the life span of caged pigeons is always longer.

Pigeon disease:

Pigeon diseases are also very rare. Among the diseases, they are usually more affected by colds. In this case, anti-cold tablets or syrup mixed with water are fed. An attack of cold can also be avoided by keeping an electric light on in the cage.

Legal barriers:

Hunting or keeping native pigeons in cages is a punishable offense under the country's bird laws. However, there is no prohibition to keep pigeons of foreign breeds. Regarding legal obstacles in pigeon farming, the district livestock officer said. Meezanur Rahman said, 'Keeping any wild animal in a cage is a punishable crime. If one wants to farm pigeons, permission from Wildlife Conservation Department is required. We will have no objection if pigeons are reared with permission.'
